The town provides an ideal base to visit the wonderful province of Jaén and visit the cities of Jaén or Granada, plus it’s the perfect destination if you want to really enjoy traditional Spanish life and culture.  Alcala la Real is overlooked by a Moorish castle, La Mota, which was reclaimed by the Christians in the fourteenth century and boasts wonderful panoramic views to the surrounding countryside.
